ITHACA, N.Y. — A Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit bus driver has been ticketed after hitting a pedestrian in Downtown Ithaca.
At about 5:30 p.m. Feb. 24, a woman walking across the street in a crosswalk was struck by a No. 51 bus while it was turning from South Albany onto West Green Street.

The operator of the bus has been issued a traffic ticket for failing to “exercise due care,” according to Officer Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the Ithaca Police Department.
At the scene Feb. 24, the bus driver assisted the woman who was conscious until emergency responders arrived. Ithaca police, the Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance responded. The report did not indicate how serious her injuries were, Williamson said, but she was treated and released from a local hospital.
