ITHACA, N.Y. — Spring is in the air and the City of Ithaca is celebrating the end of pesky snow banks by getting the streets cleaned up. Vehicles that are not in compliance with parking regulations throughout the month, however, will be towed.

Orange No Parking Zone signs will be posted throughout the city informing residents of the dates street cleaning will happen. The city stated that any vehicles not moved by 7 a.m. on those dates will be towed. The standard towing fee in the city is about $100 plus tax and a $25 storage fee will be added for each day the vehicle remains unclaimed.

The signs will be posted within 24 hours of the scheduled cleaning and are valid until an employee at the Department of Public Works removes them. Cleanings can also be rescheduled due to inclement weather, so the city is recommending that people check on the area by their parked vehicles daily.

The city said in a statement, “The posted signs are intended for the entire block, so please do not think you are safe by parking in between them.”
