Update (2:45 p.m. Thursday) — As of Thursday afternoon, the pedestrian who was struck by a tractor trailer Wednesday night is in stable but serious condition, according to Ithaca Police.

The pedestrian was able to speak to officers at the scene earlier this morning, according to Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the IPD

ITHACA, N.Y. — A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Route 13 and Willow Avenue on Wednesday evening, police say.

The crash took place at about 11:28 p.m. Wednesday and involved a tractor trailer, Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the IPD said. The pedestrian sustained a serious head injury in the crash and was transported via helicopter to a regional trauma center.

Route 13 was closed for hours, but reopened before 7 a.m., according to a notification from the City of Ithaca.

As of 7 a.m., there was no update on the pedestrian’s condition.

A New York State Police crash reconstruction team has responded to reconstruct the crash.
