ITHACA, N.Y. — After a few months of construction over the summer, work on East Avenue on Cornell University’s campus has wrapped up. As of Sunday, TCAT will return to normal service for routes that go through East Avenue.

The detour impacted the following routes: 10, 20, 21, 30, 31, 32, 36, 37, 40, 41, 43, 51, 52, 53, 65, 67, 83, 90 and 92.

The road was being rehabilitated for about four months. A new traffic control system has been installed at the intersection of Campus Road and East Avenue. East Avenue from Tower Road to Campus Road reopened Aug. 17 to 19 to accommodate Fall opening traffic, but closed again Aug. 20. Sidewalks remain open.

The roadway, crosswalks, bus pull-offs and bus shelters officially reopen Sunday.

Other construction projects around the city are ongoing. Here’s a quick look at some of the projects.

  • Four blocks of Albany Street are being reconstructed to install new drainage structures and piping, replace stone curbing with granite, install a concrete base for a TCAT bus shelter in front of the Salvation Army building and installation of ADA-compliant pedestrian ramps at intersections. The project is expected to wrap up in late October.
  • West Martin Luther King Jr./State Street Corridor: This large project is widening the sidewalk, installing a new traffic signal at the Floral Avenue intersection, installing a new signalized mid-block pedestrian crossing and realigns the intersection of West Seneca and Brindley Streets along the West MLK Jr./State Street corridor between Floral Avenue and Taughannock Boulevard. Bike lanes are also being added. The project is expected to be complete by Oct. 25. For more information, click here.
  • Work to dead-end Spencer Road by Stone Quarry Road just got underway. The 800 block of South Meadow Street is also impacted. Over the course of the project, new sidewalk is being added to the north side of the 400 block of the road and to the west side of the South Meadow Street Extension. The 400 block of Spencer Road will become a dead end at the intersection of Stone Quarry Road. Traffic from Stone Quarry will now be routed to the traffic circle at Albany Street. The project is expected to last until Oct. 1.
  • Construction continues on East State Street. Though part of the road has reopened, the project is expected to be complete by the end of October. Work is being done to replace the 75-year-old sanitary sewer interceptor between the “tuning fork” and Mitchell Street.
