1 — Briefly installed bike corrals removed after community concern
This week, several bike corrals popped up in parking spots in Ithaca. The corrals were installed as a way to meet the rising volume of bicycles, but many local residents voiced concerns that the racks took up already-scarce parking space in Collegetown.
The bike corrals provide 12 to 15 spaces for bicycles in the space of one parking spot. In total, eight were approved. They are designed to accommodate standard bikes as well as the dock-less LimeBikes.
After community concern, the bike corrals were removed in Collegetown and will be discussed at a Board of Public Works meeting Aug. 21.
2 — Enfield woman struck and killed by car in Enfield
A woman was struck by a car and killed last week near her home in Enfield.
At about 12:04 p.m. Friday, Carmen Jacks, 82, of Enfield, was crossing the street in front her driveway on the 400 block of Hayts Road when she was struck by a car.
Jacks was struck by Amedeo Fraboni Jr., 80, of Watkins Glen, who was operating a 2004 Nissan Maxima. He had one passenger in the car.
3 — William Henry Miller Inn for sale
A door of opportunity opens at the William Henry Miller Inn — The William Henry Miller Inn has welcomed tens of thousands of guests into its tidy brick and wood-trimmed walls over the years, and now the time has come to pass the torch to the next person.
Lynnette Scofield, the owner and proprietor of the nine-bedroom inn, has decided the time has come to rest on her laurels and ease into a well-earned retirement.

Circus Culture has been bringing their gravity-defying youth performance on tour.
As part of a two-week camp, performers spend one week putting together a show and the next week performing. On Wednesday, they stopped by the Ithaca Children’s Garden to perform their space-themed show, “Falling Up.”
