ITHACA, N.Y. — Following a bank robbery last week at Tompkins Trust Company, the Ithaca Police Department has released surveillance footage of a masked suspect and are asking the public to help identify the man.

Investigators from the IPD, Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Cornell University Police Department are investigating the Sept. 20 robbery, in which a man demanded money from the Tompkins Trust Company on South Meadow Street in Ithaca at gunpoint.

An attempted robbery, possibly involving the same suspect, also occurred about 30 minutes before the robbery at Tompkins Trust Company at CFCU Community Credit Union in East Hill Plaza on Ellis Hollow Road. CFCU was closed on the suspect’s arrival and he failed to enter the bank.

Jamie Williamson, public information officer for the IPD, said they cannot confirm for sure, but believe the suspect is the same based on the description.

Video of the robbery at Tompkins Trust Company shows a male suspect, between 5 feet, 6 inches and 5-feet, 8-inches wearing black pants, white sneakers, a green hooded sweatshirt, and a flat brim baseball hat. His face is shielded in a white cloth. The video also shows the suspect aim a handgun at tellers with hands suited in black gloves.

See the video from IPD below:

He fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.
