ITHACA, N.Y. —  Two Ithaca residents on parole are facing charges after allegedly crashing a car, fleeing the scene and giving fakes names to deputies, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office reports.

At about 9:20 p.m. Monday, deputies from the sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle crash at the intersection of Warren Road and Farrell Road in Lansing, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office Wednesday.

Deputies reported finding an unoccupied “severely damaged vehicle” and said two subjects fled the scene on foot. When deputies caught up with the suspects, they said they were uncooperative and provided false names. One of the suspects, later identified as William Ellison, 35, of Ithaca, resisted arrest when deputies attempted to detain him, the sheriff’s office said.

Deputies say the second suspect, Bruce R. Mead II, 24, of Ithaca, was discovered to be in the possession of a large quantity of marijuana and a controlled substance.

Both Ellison and Mead were on parole at the time of their arrests.

Ellison was charged with false personation and resisting arrest. Mead was charged with false personation, fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Ellison and Mead were arraigned in the Town of Lansing Court and remanded to Tompkins County Jail in lieu of bail/bond. Additional violation of parole warrants were later filed, holding both Ellison and Mead in jail without bail.
