Ithaca, N.Y. — A recent addition to The Ithaca Voice team, Jacob Mroczek has been passed the torch as videographer, taking over for Benjamin Torrey. In addition to shooting and editing video, Jacob will be assisting with digital media production.
Background: Born in Rochester, NY, Jacob attended Monroe Community College and The University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires, before receiving a BA in Literature – with a focus in Latin American studies – at SUNY Purchase. Jacob is also one-half of the audiovisual duo, playhouse90, based here in Ithaca. Along with partner Kristi Gogos, he’s created pieces in genres ranging from documentary to video collage and stop-motion animation.
Favorite Ithaca meal: Kimchi jun beside a brimming bowl of udon soup at KoKo (Collegetown)–the flavors and consistency are perfectly balanced, and the owner is super nice.
Favorite way to spend a Friday night in Ithaca: Dancing! (Or deejaying… while dancing!)
Fun fact: Jacob volunteers locally at WRFI (Radio Free Ithaca). His all-vinyl music show ‘Eclectic Boogaloo’ airs every other Sunday, from 3:00 – 5:00PM, and is a tribute to his favorite hometown station, WDKX (Douglass, King Jr., X).
