ITHACA, N.Y. — Organizations across Tompkins County will offer free Thanksgiving dinners for those in need. People who are looking to join a community meal or who would like to volunteer can find opportunities at the following places:

The Salvation Army of Ithaca
The Salvation Army will serve a Thanksgiving dinner with all of the trimmings from noon until everyone is fed. The meal is free and open to the public. (150 N. Albany Street, Ithaca)

Varna Community Center
The Varna Community Association will host a Thanksgiving meal from 12 – 3 p.m. The dinner is free and open to the public. Volunteer help and food or monetary donations are welcome! Freeville United Methodist Church
The Freeville UMC will begin its annual Thanksgiving dinner at 1 p.m., and asks that those planning to attend call to reserve a place (607-898-4713). (39 Main St., Freeville)

Ithaca First Assembly of God
The First Church will serve Thanksgiving dinner at 3 p.m., after a meet and greet starting at 2 p.m. The event page says the church “welcomes and invites anyone from the Church family who have no place to go for Thanksgiving… Anyone and everyone is welcome.” Participants are asked to bring a side dish and/or dessert to share. (197 Bostwick Rd., Ithaca)

Danby Church
The Danby Church will host a free community meal on Saturday, Nov. 24 featuring fried turkey with all the holiday fixings. Dinner will be available from 12 – 2 p.m.  (1859 Danby Rd., Ithaca)
