ITHACA, N.Y. — Certain TCAT routes will experience detours Friday, Dec. 14, due to the closure of West Avenue at Cornell and the inspection of the Forest Home Drive Bridge.
From 9 a.m. to noon Friday, the Forest Home Drive Bridge will undergo a state inspection, resulting in a major detour for TCAT Routes 31, 37, 41 and 83. On the same day, West Avenue will be closed from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. This detour will impact Routes 36 and 83. For people who ride those routes, here is what TCAT recommends:
Regarding the West Avenue detour impacting Routes 36 and 83
Route 36 outbound: PM trips will travel from Campus Rd. to Stewart Ave. to University Ave., Lake St, back onto normal route. The Baker Flagpole/Slopeside stop is to be relocated to University @ Stewart.
Route 36 inbound: AM trips will travel from Lake St., University Ave., to Stewart Ave., to Campus Rd, back on normal route. The Baker Flagpole stop is to be relocated to Stewart @ University.
Route 83 outbound: will detour from Stewart Ave.; right onto to University Ave. (serving Milstein Hall); right onto East Ave. (serving Goldwin Smith Hall); then left onto Tower Rd. back onto normal route. The Baker Flagpole stop is to be relocated to University @ Stewart. The Statler Hall stop is to be relocated to Uris Hall.
Alternatively, passengers traveling from West Campus to Central Campus can also use Route 10, boarding on University Ave. at the Boldt Hall bus stop.
Regarding the Forest Home Drive Bridge Detour impacting Routes 31, 37, 41 and 83
TCAT Routes 31, 37, 41, 83 will NOT be able to serve Tower Road. Passengers who normally board or alight on Tower road have a couple of options.
TCAT will have a special bus running from Statler Hall, up Tower Rd., and back to Statler via Campus Rd. This loop will run continuously from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. and will service Uris Hall, Corson/Mudd, Bradfield, Dairy Bar, and BTI during the detour. Passengers can catch this bus at Statler via the Sage Hall stop.
Alternatively, passengers can use Route 82 to transfer between Tower Rd. and detoured routes.
- Dairy Bar Across the Street, Bradfield Hall, Kennedy Hall, Uris Hall Across Street, and the Route 37 inbound Vet School stop, will be relocated to Goldwin Smith Hall.
- Uris Hall, Corson/Mudd, Bradfield Hall Across the Street, Dairy Bar, and the Route 37 outbound Vet School stop, will be relocated to Rockefeller Hall.
