ITHACA, N.Y. — Collegetown Bagels will be moving into a larger space in the new City Centre building, which is slated to open this summer at 301 E. State St., Ithaca.

Collegetown Bagels, a local favorite that first opened in Ithaca in 1976, has six locations under the Collegetown Bagels and Ithaca Bakery brands. They will be moving their downtown location, currently at 203 N. Aurora St., to the new building when it opens this summer. The move will increase their square footage from 1,500 square feet to 2,300 square feet. They will join the Ithaca Ale House, which announced it was moving to City Centre in July.

“This is an exciting time for Collegetown Bagels and marks a huge milestone for the company, its employees and customers who will all benefit from the expanded location,” Collegetown Bagels co-owner Gregar Brous said in a news release.

The new location will have outdoor seating and will be a new flagship store for the locally owned restaurant group, a news release said. It will also have an expanded menu and operating hours at the new location, along with beer and wine.

“After years of careful planning, design and community urban input, we are looking forward to seeing City Centre ‘come to life,’” Marc Newman, managing member at Newman Development Group stated. “We are excited to have Collegetown Bagels as part of this first of its kind interactive, multi-dimensional, metro living lifestyle project in downtown Ithaca. Offering a one-stop shop of restaurants, cafes, and commercial space. City Centre amenities along with residential and mixed-use offers people a chance to enjoy the ease of living at City Centre and access to the ever growing and dynamic Ithaca.”

City Centre has been rising over the Ithaca Commons for months and is leasing its apartments for June 2019, its website states. It will have over 190 units and the ground floor will have three retail spaces.

The business that will occupy the third and final retail space at City Centre hasn’t been announced yet.
