TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y. — One of the men involved in a home invasion in Dryden in April 2018 was sentenced to two years in prison this week.

In June, Henry J. Moreno, 29, and Kevin P. Chambliss, 32, both of Lansing, were indicted on several felony charges including four counts of first-degree burglary, second-degree strangulation, first-degree kidnapping and second-degree criminal possession of a loaded firearm. Additionally, Chambliss was charged with first-degree criminal sexual act.

On Wednesday, Moreno was sentenced by Judge Joseph Cassidy to two years in prison with two years of post-release supervision after pleading guilty to second-degree attempted criminal possession of a loaded firearm, a felony.

Police released few details after the incident in April, but court records state a woman contacted 911 and said Moreno and Chambliss had left her home with an injured person after assaulting her and brandishing a handgun. While on the phone with law enforcement, she said Moreno and Chambliss had returned to her house in the same vehicle. Moreno and Chambliss were arrested April 25 by New York State Police with assistance from the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.

On Jan. 18, Chambliss pleaded guilty to first-degree burglary, a class B violent felony. According to the plea memorandum, the district attorney’s office is recommending 10 years of incarceration with five years of post-release supervision. His sentencing is scheduled for March.
