ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca Fire Department extinguished a house fire Sunday night on Coddington Road. All residents escaped safely and two cats were rescued from the home.
The fire was reported on the 200 block of Coddington Road around 8:40 p.m. Sunday. When firefighters arrived on scene they found smoke coming from the back of the one-story duplex home. IFD crews immediately evacuated residents and pets and said they brought the blaze under control in about 20 minutes.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
Bangs Ambulance and New York State Police assisted on scene and NYSEG responded to secure utilities. The American Red Cross is assisting displaced residents.
