ITHACA, N.Y. â€” Supporting local journalism is as easy as ordering fried chicken (or tofu) and enjoying good beer and music at the upcoming Maxie’s Chicken-Fried Fundraiser.

From 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, Maxie’s Supper Club is teaming up with Lucky Hare Brewing Company and Ithaca Soy to support The Ithaca Voice. There will be live music by Not From Brooklyn, a local jazz trio.

Maxie’s will donate $5 for every Southern Fried Chicken Dinner and BBQ Tofu Dinner, and $1 for every Lucky Hare beer sold that night.

Founded in 2014, The Ithaca Voice is a nonprofit news site that provides in-depth, community-focused journalism every day. The Ithaca Voice will always be a free, local news source. Because the Voice is a nonprofit, we rely on community donations, grants, and sponsors to bring news to the community. Learn more about how we operate and are funded here.

Can’t make it to Maxie’s but still want to support local news? You can donate to the Voice on our GiveGab page.

The Ithaca Voice is fiscally sponsored by the Center for Transformative Action, a 501(c)3 organization, which accepts funds on our behalf.

So, please come out March 19 to support our mission and say hello to some of our staff. We are grateful to Maxie’s for hosting this fundraiser and Lucky Hare for supporting us, and to all of our daily readers and supporters in the community.
