ITHACA, N.Y. — Thousands of students turned out to enjoy the music, celebration and sunshine at Cornell University’s annual Slope Day. This year’s headliner was Steve Aoki.
Slope Day is the university’s annual celebration of the end of the semester, taking place in the gap between the end of classes and final exams. The music and party on Libe Slope is always the highlight. In addition to Steve Aoki, there were performances by Cousin Stizz and Ezi. The music was accompanied by a festival on Ho Plaza. The university’s tradition of celebrating the end of the spring semester dates back more than 100 years. In recent years, some of the performers have included Galantis, MisterWives, Big Gigantic, Cash Cash and Walk the Moon.
In a tweet following the concert Wednesday, Steve Aoki said he was rejected when he applied to Cornell but, sharing photos of the massive crowd gathered, “I don’t feel rejected anymore.”
