ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca police are searching for a suspect who reportedly wore a mask, brandished a “large machete-type knife” and tried to rob a person early Sunday in the Collegetown area.
Police responded to the 100 block of Oak Avenue for a report of an attempted robbery at about 2:21 a.m. Sunday. According to police, the suspect ran toward the victim with a large knife and demanded property. The victim was able to escape without injury, police said.
Police said they were unable to locate the suspect, who was last seen on foot on Oak Avenue.
As of about 10 a.m. Sunday, police said in a news release the investigation is ongoing and “there are no further details available for release.”
