LANSING, N.Y. â€” New York State Police have charged 50-year-old Phyllis J. Melton, of Ithaca, with grand larceny after she allegedly stole jewelry from a property she was hired to clean in Lansing.

Melton was arrested by police at Sept. 5 after a complaint was lodged Aug. 22, state police said Friday in a news release. She is facing a felony charge of grand larceny. Melton is accused of stealing items and selling them at a pawn shop.

She was arraigned in Town of Lansing Court on Sept. 5 and released on her own recognizance.
