ITHACA, N.Y. — With nine new buses, TCAT will officially roll out the second phase of its fall service on Sunday, Oct. 27.
TCAT has nine new 40-foot diesel buses that will help bolster its fleet. In a news release in August, Assistant General Manager Matt Yarrow, who oversees TCAT’s transit development and planning, said having the second fall service period helped them adjust schedules and add more capacity if they see any problems developing in early fall.
The first phase of fall service included new routes for Ithaca College. In addition to the normal Route 11 trips between the college and the Commons, TCAT added a later Route 11N bus with trips until about 1:50 a.m. on weekends. TCAT also added the Route 11S weekend shopper, which brings students directly to Wegmans, Tops and Walmart on Saturdays and Sundays.
The second phase of fall service includes a new Route 83W for more direct service to West Campus previously served by rural routes. The regular Route 83 will continue to serve North Campus, TCAT said.
TCAT would like to note that all routes impacted by the construction project on College Avenue will remain on their existing detour until Dec. 1. At that date, the road is expected to be partially reopened and Route 30, 51, 70 will go back to using College Avenue.
The amended Fall 2019 TCAT schedules will be available online soon and printed copies of the amended ride guides will be available at TCAT bus shelters, including at the Green and Seneca street stations.
