ITHACA, N.Y. —A car collided with a plow truck Monday morning on Slaterville Road near Burns Road in the Town of Ithaca.
First responders arrived on scene around 9:30 a.m. Monday, where they found a passenger vehicle off the road and down an embankment, with a woman trapped inside.
The driver, suffering from minor injuries, was able to climb up the embankment to the road. The plow truck was still up on Route 79 and the driver had minor injuries as well.
The Ithaca Fire Department’s Heavy Rescue was requested to the scene along with another engine company. Operating in the snowy conditions, crews secured the car to the heavy rescue truck so it wouldn’t fall further down the ravine and extricated the woman from the car.
She and the driver were taken to area hospitals by Bangs Ambulance for treatment of their injuries.
The road was closed and crews were on the scene cleaning up for about an hour. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
Ithaca Fire Rescue, Bangs Ambulance, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office and State Police all responded to the scene.
