ITHACA, N.Y. –– The Ithaca Children and Youth Chorus will be holding placement auditions for Winter 2020 at Community School of Music and Arts located at 330 E. State St, Ithaca on January 6 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Children that participated this year do not need to re-audition, younger or older siblings, friends from school or other activities are encouraged to audition and join CSMA in the fall. New faces are always welcome! Children interested in joining the Dolce Choir (ages 5 and 6) do not need to audition and can register now through the CSMA website.

Auditions are brief –– approximately 10 minutes, and consist of a little vocalizing, some pitch memory exercises, and some basic harmony exercises. We aim to make auditioning a very low-key and comfortable experience for all singers.

Minimum age for participation is 5, but ensembles go up through middle and high school.

The rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Chorale (typically age 12 and up), directed by Emily Richards and Sarah Smokay Linfors is Mondays, 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Intermezzo (typically ages 9-13), directed by Sarah Smokay Linfors is Mondays, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Dolce, (ages 5-7), directed by Emily Richards is Wednesdays, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Prelude, (ages 7-9), directed by Emily Richards is Wednesdays, 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
