ITHACA, N.Y. —The Downtown Ithaca Alliance and City of Ithaca officials held ribbon-cuttings on Thursday, welcoming two new businesses to downtown Ithaca.
Our Remedies, a CBD retailer founded by Samuel Viscome located at 208A East State Street/The Commons, has expanded into Ithaca on the back of the success at their flagship store in Destiny USA in Syracuse. When looking for a place to expand, Viscome’s past experiences in Ithaca made for a natural fit.
“I’ve always felt very accepted by this town and that my morals are very aligned with the morals of the general community,” said Viscome. “And it felt like a similar warm welcome, like I felt from the general public, to have the whole downtown alliance on board.”
Also celebrating an opening is Nothing Nowhere, a cafe and art space that recently popped up in the back corner of Home Green Home — right across the street from Our Remedies, at 215 East State Street/The Commons.
Proprietor Caleb Harrington has been pleased with the support from the community so far.
“I am, every day, astounded that there is such a variety of people that come down this main street, we’re finding the weirdos, we’re finding the interesting points of culture, we’re doing everything word of mouth right now,” said Harrington. “So, we’re really glad to be part of this community and glad that it’s accepting me and pulling all these wonderful local punks together to do some crazy things, we’ll see how it shakes out in the future, we’re just at the start of this whole mess.
