UPDATE (11:07 a.m.) –– Friday’s stabbing appears to have been a targeted attack and may be drug-related, according to an Ithaca Police Department release.

Following a meeting with authorities over the weekend, IPD says the victim in the stabbing incident has declined to cooperate with the investigation.

According to the police, the victim, who has not been identified but is said to be a 37-year-old male, was found with several stab wounds in a home on the 400 block of W. State Street. He was in and out of consciousness and police administered life-saving measures including the use of QuickClot Gauze to control his bleeding.

The victim was transported by Bangs Ambulance to the Cayuga Medical Center where he was then airlifted by helicopter to a regional trauma center.

Investigators say the incident appears to be drug-related, and a targeted attack by individuals who have yet to be identified.

ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca Police Department is investigating after responding to a stabbing early Friday morning.

At approximately 2:13 a.m. on Jan. 24, the IPD responded to a reported stabbing inside a building in the 400 block of W. State Street.

Officer located victim and began rendering medical aid until the arrival of EMS, according to a press release from IPD, the victim was then taken to the hospital via ambulance.

The Ithaca Police Department was assisted by Bangs Ambulance, the Ithaca Fire Department, and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
