ITHACA, N.Y. — Downtown Ithaca Alliance (DIA) and the City of Ithaca are seeking public input on a Downtown/West End 2030 Strategic Plan.

The city’s business development district, led by long-time director Gary Ferguson, and the City of Ithaca Director of Planning JoAnn Cornish are looking for participants in a survey.

This comprehensive plan will be used to help guide both entities with policies and programs, as well as spending priorities, for the decade to come. The Martin Luther King, Jr./ State Street Corridor has been targeted for future development, with hopes of connecting the downtown core of the Commons with the city’s swiftly growing West End.

The survey asks questions about safety, cleanliness and accessibility in the three distinct sections of the city planners are studying: The Downtown Core, the State Street Corridor and the West End. The survey also asks respondents what specifically brought them, or did not bring them, to those areas.

The City of Ithaca also plans to use survey to help update the Phase II component of its Comprehensive Plan: Plan Ithaca.

The City and DIA are collecting information from residents that will help with the preparation of this Plan. They ask residents to complete this survey, which takes about 5 minutes, by Friday, April 24.

The survey can be found online by clicking here and printed copies are also available at the Tompkins County Public Library.

Results from this survey will help guide & shape the Downtown 2030 Strategic Plan and the City will use them for the Phase II plan and all responses are anonymous, however, survey takers are given the option to submit their email address to potentially participate in future focus groups planned for further information gathering.
