ITHACA, N.Y. — Ithaca’s Southside neighborhood is slated for 4 to 6 weeks of construction after the City of Ithaca announced plans to replace gas mains on Monday.
The projects will bring Plain, Wood, Albany and Park Streets down to one lane during work hours, with flaggers directing traffic flow. Construction materials will also be stores on the street and will affect some parking. Some sidewalk detours may take place, but traffic detours are not expected during the project.
The replacement of the mains is scheduled to take 4 to 6 weeks, with the replacement of service connections to individuals homes coming later, due to concerns for individual exposure from the COVID-19 crisis.
