ITHACA, N.Y. –– After reports of an altercation near the West Village Apartments Saturday, police detained a juvenile and recovered a loaded handgun.
At approximately 6:05 p.m., Ithaca Police officers were called to respond to the area of 150 W. Village Place, Abbott Lane, and the 600 block of Chestnut St. in regards to the report of a young man being chased by another person that was brandishing a gun.
One person, the juvenile, was located and detained in the area with the assistance of the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department. The identity of the juvenile is not being released.
During the course of the police investigation, a loaded handgun was recovered.
