Consumers who are encountering legal issues with rentals due to COVID-19 are invited to attend a special Zoom presentation of “Tenant / Landlord: Rights and Responsibilities” on Thursday, May 14 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., with NY State Assistant Attorney General Michael Danaher, Jr.
In this free Consumer Issues program, Attorney Danaher will discuss tenant-landlord issues including leasing, how security deposits are managed, when and how evictions occur, what to do about needed repairs, and how to avoid or resolve tenant-landlord disputes.
For this special Zoom presentation, he also will cover specific CoVid-19 rental issues affecting both landlords and tenants. From 12 to 1 p.m., Danaher will take questions that have been submitted via the Zoom chatbox. Since this is a remote broadcast, Danaher will not provide individual consultations on consumer problems, as he normally does when this monthly program is offered in-person at the CCE-Tompkins Education Center in Ithaca.
Sign up for this free Zoom presentation, here. You may also view his presentation via live stream on YouTube, here, but will be unable to submit questions via chat on that platform.
For two decades, Attorney Danaher has traveled from his office in Binghamton on the 2nd Thursday of each month to give a free live presentation on a popular consumer issues topic at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County. These programs are videotaped for rebroadcast on local Public Access Channel 15 on Mondays at 7:00 am, 1:00 pm & 7:00 pm, and also are edited and posted to CCE-Tompkins’ YouTube Channel.
