ITHACA, N.Y. –– The Ithaca Police Department and Ithaca Fire Department responded to Ithaca Falls for multiple injuries caused by falling rocks on Tuesday.

At approximately 4:26 p.m. police and firefighters along with medics from Bangs Ambulance arrived on the scene at 303 Lake Street and found that three people had sustained injures when rocks had fallen from the cliffs near the falls.

One of the individuals was transported to Cayuga Medical Center for treatment. None of the injuries were life-threatening.

IPD is reminding visitors to the falls that there is a danger of falling rocks and to be mindful of that when choosing where to view the falls from.

Cornell University also issued a reminder for safety in the gorges and while hiking on trails with expanded guidance for COVID-19.
