ITHACA, N.Y. –– After a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on the West End Wednesday morning, police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward and contact the Ithaca Police Department.
The incident occurred Wednesday at around 10:40 a.m., at the intersection of West Seneca and North Meadow Streets near Byrne Dairy. Deputy Police Chief Vincent Monticello told the Voice Wednesday afternoon that he witnessed part of the accident, and that the driver immediately stopped their vehicle at the scene.
Bangs ambulance assisted officers at the scene, transporting the victim struck by the car to Cayuga Medical Center. The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the accident.
According to D.C. Monticello, an investigation is currently underway by IPD, and charges are pending.
Police are taking this opportunity to remind the community to “be aware of your surroundings and take great care when operating a vehicle or crossing roadways.”
