ITHACA, N.Y. –– Four additional charges have been brought against 25 year-old Michael LaMontain for a string of August burglaries on top of charges he’s already facing in connection with the burglary of a Plain St. residence back in June.

On Aug. 24 the Ithaca Police Department arrested LaMontain on charges of attempted burglary in the third degree, burglary in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree and grand larceny in the third degree. Additional charges may also be filed pending the conclusion of additional police investigations.

According to a press release from IPD, the crimes occurred between Aug. 7 and Aug 21.

LaMontain has been arraigned before Ithaca City Court Judge Wallace and remanded to Tompkins County Jail.

Since mid-July, there have been more than 60 reported burglaries in the Ithaca area. In light of the uptick, law enforcement is reminding residents to report suspicious behavior, “in an effort to help us reduce and eliminate the recent drastic increase in serious crime,” the IPD press release states.
