ITHACA, N.Y. –– Tompkins County Area Transit’s operation and safety officials are investigating an accident caused by one of their buses Friday afternoon, during which the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a home on the West End.

The TCAT Route 14 bus accident occurred just after noon on Friday after the driver reportedly lost control of the bus after attempting to turn onto Hook Place from Haller Boulevard. Significant damage was caused as a result to the Hook Place home, and the bus itself.

No injuries were reported, and the five passengers on the bus were escorted off safely.

According to TCAT Communications and Marketing Manager Patty Poist, no other details are available as the accident remains under investigation.
