ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department and Cayuga Health System announced Thursday night that additional vaccination clinics have been planned in order to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to people who meet the criteria for Phase 1A of the rollout, which includes frontline medical workers, as well as those who live and work in nursing homes and several other smaller groups (full list below).
The clinics, which are being held at the old Sears location at the Shops at Ithaca Mall, were initially planned for three days this week, from Jan. 6 through Jan. 8 from 6:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., but two more have now been added. The additional clinics will be held on Jan. 9 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Appointments must be made through the vaccination information page that the Tompkins County Health Department has established, but the health department is asking people to check their eligibility first, which can be found at the same page. A list, which is subject to expand as the weeks go on, of those eligible to receive the coronavirus vaccine during Phase 1A:
- High-risk hospital staff, affiliates, volunteers and contract staff, following the clinical risk assessment guidance
- High-risk hospital staff including State-operated OMH psychiatric centers
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Personnel
- Medical Examiners and Coroners
- Funeral workers who have direct contact with infectious material and bodily fluids
- Health care or other high-risk direct care essential staff working in LTCFs and long-term, congregate settings overseen by OPWDD, OMH and OASAS
- Agency staff and residents in congregate living situations run by the Office of People with Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS).
- Persons living in LTCFs and in long-term congregate settings overseen by OPWDD and OMH
- High-risk hospital and FQHC staff, including OMH psychiatric centers
- Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Personnel
- Medical Examiners and Coroners
- Urgent Care providers
- Any staff administering COVID-19 Vaccinations
