ITHACA, N.Y.—Ithaca Police are investigating a stabbing that took place in Ithaca on Wednesday evening.
Police said that they located a male victim who had been stabbed in his torso around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 17. The Ithaca Fire Department and Bangs Ambulance treated the victim before he was flown to a regional trauma center, though his injuries are not believed to be life threatening, according to police. The incident took place in the 400 block of Cascadilla Street.
Police said the victim did not provide officers with a description of the suspect while he was on scene, but that IPD believes the victim and the suspect know each other, meaning the attack was not random. There is no evidence that the incident was connected to the shooting earlier this week in downtown Ithaca.
The investigation is ongoing, and the Ithaca Police Department is asking that anyone who was in area during the incident or anyone who resides in the area that may have surveillance footage to contact the Ithaca Police Investigative Division. People can remain anonymous if they wish to do so.
