ITHACA, N.Y. –– A Trumansburg man has been charged with driving while having his ability impaired by drugs, reckless driving, speeding, driving at an unreasonable speed and blowing two red lights after his journey ended in a major crash that brought law enforcement to the scene.
According to police Friday, Eliot Dugan, 19, of Trumansburg, traveled through several red lights in the early morning hours of October 17, 2020 at speeds above 60 mph before striking a parked utility trailer and flipping onto the roof of his vehicle. The crash occurred at the intersection of Seneca Street and Plain Street.
Investigators from the Ithaca Police Department crash team have ultimately concluded that the driver, Dugan, was impaired by drugs while he operated his vehicle on Seneca Street.
Dugan was arrested and released on his own recognizance. He is set to appear in court at a later date.
