TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—New York State Police are investigating a motor vehicle accident that killed one pedestrian Thursday in the Town of Caroline.

The accident happened around 3:36 p.m. on April 1, when police were dispatched to a report of a person being struck by a vehicle on Buffalo Road in Caroline. Upon arrival by police and medical personnel, Charles Mohler, 73, of Brooktondale, was transported by Bangs Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center.

Mohler later died as a result of his injuries.

While the cause of the accident is still under investigation, the driver of the vehicle that struck Mohler, Natalie Robertson, 26 years old of Brooktondale, was charged with Driving while Impaired by Drugs and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (more information on that charge here).

Robertson was given an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Caroline court in May. Both of the charges she received are misdemeanors. Police did not specify whether further charges are forthcoming.
