ITHACA, N.Y.—A pursuit that began in Schuyler County and ended in downtown Ithaca did not result in an arrest, according to the Ithaca Police Department.
Police said that around 9:15 a.m. on Aug. 29, they were notified that a Schuyler County Deputy was chasing a vehicle that “was failing to yield.” At some point, police were additionally told that the “fleeing vehicle would likely enter the City of Ithaca.”
According to IPD, police then went about clearing traffic from Elmira Road and Seneca and Meadow Streets. The chase was terminated within the city due to the danger presented to other drivers and pedestrians in the area. The vehicle was found empty near West State Street and Brindley Street, without the suspect.
The suspect was described as a white man, dark hair, bearded and wearing all dark clothing, and he is believed to have fled on foot, according to police. There was no further information released.
