ITHACA, N.Y.—According to Ithaca Police, a juvenile under the age of 18, who is not being named by police, has been arrested and charged with crimes committed against two victims less than 11 years old.

The crimes took place between March 2021 and the end of June 2021. The police made the arrest on Sept. 7, though the charges were not announced until this week.

The suspect was charged with two counts of first-degree sex abuse and one count of a criminal sex act. The case will be conducted in Family Court. The Advocacy Center, Tompkins County Child Protective Services and the Tompkins County Attorney’s Office all assisted IPD, making up the Tompkins County Multidisciplinary Team.

“The Ithaca Police department would like to remind community members and mandated reporters to remain vigilant in looking out for signs of child abuse and/or neglect. This investigation was initiated by a concerned youth counselor. Victims/survivors of sexual abuse can contact the Advocacy Center at (607) 277-5000
