ITHACA, N.Y.—The Ithaca Police have confirmed that one person is dead after being struck by a truck on Friday morning, Nov. 5. The incident took place in the 700 block of S. Meadow Street in Ithaca, resulting in several hours of road closures.
Police stated that around 10 a.m. they responded to calls about a commercial box truck striking a pedestrian. Upon responding, police said life-saving measures were attempted but were ultimately unsuccessful.
The deceased person’s name is not being released. Police said no tickets have been issued. The Ithaca Voice is awaiting clarification regarding whether or not an investigation into the crash has concluded, or if punishment is still potentially possible for the driver of the box truck.
Police were helped on the scene by the Ithaca Fire Department, Bang’s Ambulance, Ithaca Police Traffic Reconstruction Team, IPD’s Investigations Division and the NYSP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit.
