ITHACA, N.Y.—Wouldn’t you like to start 2022 Fresh? Will you Dip… or Dodge Remember when we all got together at the Yacht Club to celebrate New Year’s Day? Wasn’t it a blast? Or maybe you missed it—but don’t miss it this year! In person and live-streamed, it’ll be our 7th Annual Ithaca Chill Challenge, and we want you to join the fun; visit our website at ithacachillchallenge.org, find a friend, and donate to ‘Dip’ them in the lake.
A polar plunge with a twist: Not everyone who registers to participate ends up in the icy waters of Cayuga Lake. Fund-raising features “Dip” or “Dodge” options—for each participant, donors contribute to either “dip” them into the lake or let them “dodge” and cheer from the shore. On New Year’s Day at noon, the higher total for each participant prevails. Participants commit to doing whatever their friends, loved ones, co-workers, frenemies, siblings, and assorted other donors decide. Regardless of who winds up in the lake and who watches from the shore, all donations go to support Ithaca Community Recovery (ICR).
Ithaca Community Recovery plays an invaluable role in helping people whose lives are affected by addiction; people who come together to practice recovery, fellowship, and service; people who have created a vibrant and caring community of support. We believe this amazing community deserves an amazing place to gather! For the past 21 years, ICR has provided a home base at 518 West Seneca Street. Our commitment is to make 518 safe, affordable and available every day, 365 days a year.
People who are active in the recovery community, the people who love and support them, the people who only know of them, everyone will be able to come together to celebrate and to welcome in the new year.
Ithaca Chill Challenge registration is open now and closes on New Year’s Eve. Donate to any registered participant on-line at ithacachillchallenge.org or print out the form to mail in. Then come celebrate with us on New Year’s Day at the Ithaca Yacht Club at 1 p.m.
There will be cocoa, as well as prizes for the top fund-raisers and for best costumes. Donations welcome anytime! Support this gem of a local non-profit now and join us in this annual celebration of recovery. We will be observing the recommended safety protocols in place at the time of the event.
So SIGN UP, PONY UP, AND SHOW UP!
