As Dryden citizens, we want to thank you for your article about the Enfield Town Board’s hearing over legalized marijuana sale and consumption in their town. We are very concerned about anything that poses risks to the health and well-being of our children. The quotes from Robert Lynch and Ellen Woods suggest direct implications for a school environment and our community.
The December 16th meeting of the Dryden Town Board is the last chance for the general public to be given a voice, as well as to allow us to study scientific research and medical advice. The new law allows Town Boards to temporarily opt-out (before Jan. 1) of both the sale and public consumption of cannabis, allowing for community input, but failing to opt-out by the deadline creates a permanent unregulated open door.
In addition to the Enfield and Lansing hearings, Freeville and Dryden Villages, Groton Town and Village, Cortlandville, Homer, and other municipalities have opted-out. So should we in Dryden and allow for a public hearing.
Ron Szymanski, Kelly Daley and Nancy Crawford
