ITHACA, N.Y.—With a snowstorm expected to drop several inches of precipitation Sunday night into Monday, local officials have already started to tell drivers to avoid the roads if possible.
Ithaca Mayor Svante Myrick tweeted a warning to local drivers around the same time that Tompkins County sent out an alert through its Swift911 system.
“Please avoid any unnecessary travel in the City of Ithaca due to poor weather and deteriorating road conditions,” the alert states.
Forecasters have called for a wide range of snow accumulation numbers—as low as six inches and as high as 18. A Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 5 p.m. Monday. Extremely low temperatures recently may cause freezing among accumulated snow as well, so be careful when venturing out. Odd/Even parking is in effect in Ithaca.
