ITHACA, N.Y.—Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies and New York State Police officers responded to a reported burglary in progress at the Cayuga Operating Company, known as the Cayuga Power Plant, in the Town of Lansing at approximately 6:14 p.m. Feb. 22, 2022.

Information relayed to responding officers by the Tompkins County Dispatch Center stated that two individuals had been seen via live-feed cameras inside the building.

Upon arrival deputies located a red Toyota RAV4 parked by the perimeter fence that had been cut near the parked vehicle.

Responding officers entered the facility and the individuals seen on the cameras ran out of the building before being apprehended and identified as 35-year-old Marvin A. Spivey Jr. and 31-year-old John J. Lantry, both of Binghamton.

Both Spivey and Lantry were charged with Burglary in the Third Degree, Criminal Trespass and Criminal Mischief. Additionally Spivey received a Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree. Both individuals were held in the Tompkins County Jail for arraignment. Spivey was released and Lantry was held for a parole warrant.
