ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department is looking for information regarding the vaccination status of a black cat to rule out the risk of rabies following a biting incident that occurred March 3, 2022, at approximately 9:15 p.m. on North Tioga Street.

The cat is described as a friendly, black lean shorthaired cat of small to medium size with a collar on. The cat is often seen between Linn and North Tioga Streets and East Marshall to East Tompkins Street.

The TCHD is trying to verify the cat’s vaccination status and health following the biting incident so rabies infection risk can be ruled out.

Anyone with information can reach out to the Tompkins County Environmental Health Division at (607)274-6688.
