TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—At approximately 8 p.m. on March 20, 2022, the Brooktondale Volunteer Fire Company and other mutual aid departments responded to a structure fire on the 600 block of Valley Road in the Town of Caroline.

Responding officers found heavy fire and one resident who had evacuated himself, and a second alarm was requested through the Tompkins County 911 Center, according to the Brooktondale fire department’s Facebook post.

Bangs Ambulance transported the resident to a trauma center and the fire was taken control of quickly. Responding firefighters remained on the scene until approximately 2:30 a.m., and the New York State Police and Office of Fire Prevention and Control are investigating the cause of the incident.
