ITHACA, N.Y.—Tompkins Consolidated Area Transit (TCAT) is reminding riders that masks are still required while traveling on buses as per the New York State Department of Health Commissioner’s decision from March 2, 2022.

“The state mandate is not affected by the April 18, 2022, federal court order vacating the federal mask requirement, or by the Transit Security Administration’s subsequent statement that it would no longer enforce the federal mask mandate for public transportation and transportation hubs,” TCAT’s press release said.

TCAT will be monitoring the status of mask mandates throughout the state and will base future decisions on new information and decisions from state transit and government officials.
