ITHACA, N.Y.—A shootout in the City of Ithaca that took place overnight Saturday is under investigation by the Ithaca Police Department.

Details were scant in a release from the Ithaca Police Department, but it states that around 1 a.m. on Sunday morning, police responded to the 100 block of Hudson Street near Giles Street. They found evidence that a car had been struck by gunfire upon arrival. No injuries are believed to have been sustained.

However, the incident had not been reported to police at first because some in the area first thought it was fireworks, so there were no suspects found upon police’s arrival. Police did say that a dark sedan might be involved, as one was seen leaving the area after the incident by witnesses.

Further, police are asking anyone with surveillance video in the area to come forward to assist the investigation, or anyone else who has information regarding the incident.
