ITHACA, N.Y.—The Community Arts Partnership is offering its second year of the Creative Recovery Fund, a grant of up to $1,500 funded by community donations available to individual artists, nonprofits and municipalities for projects that work toward community recovery on the topics of racial justice, public health, mental health, climate change and economic recovery.

Robin Schwartz, program and grant director, said that the idea for the grant initially came about as a way to aid artists following the pandemic while addressing racism and climate change.

Debuting in 2021, the grant was able to fund 11 projects including workshops offered at The Cherry Arts; theater productions highlighting the criminal justice and foster care systems and mental illness put on by Civic Ensemble; a musical composition and performance by the Dorothy Cotton Jubilee Singers and more.

Project type eligibility includes concerts, performances, workshops, screenings, readings exhibits and more, and the primary purpose of the project must be of one of the topic areas listed above. Additionally, the project must work toward advancing the cultural equity of Tompkins County and benefit its communities.

Applications are due June 22, and the link to the apply can be found here. So far, the 2022 Creative Recovery Fund has received $11,000 from the The Community Foundation, and donations will be accepted through July 10.

After the applications are received, a panel of anonymous people passionate about the arts read the funding requests and check them against the application guidelines before making a suggestion on which projects to fund.

Recipients of a grant award will be notified about four weeks after application submission, and aside from making the project available to the public, awardees must submit a final report within 30 days of the project’s completion.
