ITHACA, N.Y.—The Tompkins County Health Department (TCHD) is looking for information about a dog that bit a person at approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28, 2022, on Eddy Street between Catherine and East Buffalo streets.

The dog is described as a large, brown, short-haired dog with a short nose, possibly boxer or boxer mix breeds. The woman seen walking the dog is described as wearing a pink dress with medium brown hair in a ponytail. The woman walking the dog stated that she was the owner’s sister.

The TCHD is seeking to verify health of the biting dog over a 10-day at-home observation to rule out rabies and verify vaccination status.

Locating and observing the dog will allow a risk of rabies to be ruled out.
