ITHACA, N.Y.—An Ithaca man has pled guilty to two child pornography-related charges in federal court Tuesday.
Leroy Reed, 53, was arrested last year and charged with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography, according to a release from the U.S. Department of Justice. After his guilty plea this week, he now faces between 15-60 years in prison and five years of subsequent supervised release.
“As part of his guilty plea, Reed, admitted that from February 2020 to March 2021 he used a computer to download child pornography over the internet using peer-to-peer file-sharing software,” per the release. “A subsequent search of Reed’s apartment revealed that he was in possession of 55 images and 94 video files depicting child pornography. Reed is a registered sex offender who was convicted in 2002 of Rape in the First Degree involving a victim who was 15 years old.”
Reed is being detained until his sentencing in September. The investigation was conducted by the FBI and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office.
