TOMPKINS COUNTY, N.Y.—Assemblywoman Anna Kelles has endorsed Democrat Josh Riley’s campaign for Congress in NY-19. Kelles is the first Democratic elected official to endorse following the newest redistricting maps.

Kelles, who represents the 125th District that includes Ithaca, said that Riley’s experience writing criminal justice reform legislation, work with the Mental Health Collaboration and Violence Against Women acts and work on sentence reform to reduce minimum sentencing requirements all display his commitment to to rebuilding federal regulations that need attention.

“Josh Riley is a champion for working families in upstate New York,” Kelles said. “He will be able to hit the ground running with integrity and determination for justice, equity, job access, housing access, and the environment. He will put people over profits and special interests. I am proud to endorse Josh Riley for Congress.”

Riley, who is one of the only candidates to not waiver away from Tompkins County’s district since the new maps were approved May 20, said he is honored to have Kelles’ support for his campaign.

“She is a leader in the fight against climate change, not just here in Tompkins County but across all of New York and the nation. […] Together, we will work to bring good jobs to the region and put us on the cutting edge of innovation.”
