ITHACA, N.Y.—The Walkable Ithaca: Giles Street Sidewalk Project began Monday, May 16, at the 1100 block of East State Street (Route 79) and will cause traffic to be reduced to one lane.

Flaggers will be on-site providing alternate traffic flow in both directions during business hours, and drivers and bikers should expect delays.

The project includes installing new granite curb, sidewalks and curb ramps. The project has been partially funded by the Climate Smart Community Grant Program, which is Title 15 of the Environmental Protection Fund through the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.

A project is slated for completion by July 1, 2022.
